We were up at 5:30 am this morning to get our luggage out for pickup by 6:45 am. We then went down for breakfast. Afterwards we checked out of the hotel and walked to the train station. We took the same train, but in the opposite direction from Zermatt down to Tasch, taking only about 15 minutes. Then we jump on the bus and headed for Italy to visit the Isola Bella. On the way, we stopped for a pit stop and had a pastry. Maria has some sort of savory crepe and I had a large slice of quiche Lorraine. The crepe was good but, I thought the quiche was very "heavy". I was able to eat about one-half and Maria helped polish it off.
We reached Stresa, Italy on Lake Maggiore and had lunch at the Lo Stornello. Not a very exciting meal, which included pasta and salad. After lunch, we boarded a water taxi and headed over to the island of Isola Bella (

Isola Bella is divided between the Palace, its Italianate garden, and a small fishing village. It is dominated by the Baroque palace, along with a luxuriant Italian-style garden, laid out on ten terraces.

After the guided tour of the palace, we were free to walk the garden. It was a very warm day.

Upon leaving Isola Bella, we headed back into Switzerland. It was about two hours before we reached Lugano. There we checked into the Hotel Splendide Royale. We relaxed for a couple of hours before dressing for dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Tomorrow we spend in Lugano but we also take a two hour cruise on Lake Lugano with lunch on the French bank.
